Juventus attacker Cristiano Ronaldo has been heavily criticised this season for his ineffectiveness in the big games this season and this continued during the huge clash with rivals AC Milan in the Italian Serie A on Sunday.

Cristiano Ronaldo was the man who took the most  criticism on the back of Juventus’ early exit in the Champions League as he was largely anonymous in both legs against Portuguese giants FC Porto. Ronaldo failed to score in the two legs as his team exited the competition via the away goals rule at the hands of Porto.

Juventus left the Champions League stage at the round of 16 at the hands of Porto to make it two successive last 16 exits in the competition.

In addition to their Champions League exit, Juventus have lost the league title to Inter Milan despite the goals of Cristiano Ronaldo. The Portuguese national team player is the leading goalscorer in the Italian Serie A this season with 27 goals and he’s on course to win the Golden Boot Award.

His goals were not able to win the league title for Juventus as one of their former managers in Antonio Conte fired Inter Milan to the league title at the expense of his former club.

Juventus and Cristiano Ronaldo are in danger of playing in the Europa League next season and not the Champions League after the big 3-0 defeat at home to AC Milan. Ronaldo was largely anonymous in the game as it has become the norm during the big games.

Milan took the lead through Brahim Diaz on the stroke of half-time before two goals in four second half minutes from Ante Rebic and Chelsea loanee Fikayo Tomori settled the game for the visitors.

Juventus trail fourth place by one point ahead of the final three matches. They are in fifth place and need to finish in the top four to play in the Champion League next season.
