RONALDO LEFT DISAPPOINTED

Cristiano Ronaldo has tried to put behind the disappointment of not winning the FIFA Ballon d’Or award by stating that his intentions are to make the fans happy. The Portuguese superstar may appear to have a self-obsession about winning the FIFA Ballon d’Or award, which is given to the best player in the world at the end of a calendar year.

Cristiano Ronaldo

After losing out to Lionel Messi in four consecutive seasons, Ronaldo did not appear to be happy when attending the awards. This all changed after back-to-back titles, which helped him gather three in total.

Messi, however, continued to lead the numbers game with four FIFA Ballon d’Or awards until now. He has just picked up his fifth to put himself comfortably ahead of Ronaldo. The Argentine and Barcelona superstar was recently named as the best player of 2015.

Unlike in recent years, Ronaldo did not show any disappointment following the awards ceremony, though there were rumours that throughout the presentation he was having a go at playing pokies on mobile> – maybe he won on there instead!?

The 30-year-old had the opportunity to vote in the FIFA Ballon d’Or award since he was the captain of the Portuguese national team. It has been revealed that he ranks Karim Benzema, James Rodriguez, and Gareth Bale as the three best players in the world.

Even though there was a huge disappointment in terms of the actual trophy, Ronaldo was given a huge boost after being named in the 2015 FIFA FIFPro World Eleven.

“My work is to help my team win titles, score goals and form part of a team. I enjoy making people happy, my fans and everyone that follows me and likes my style of play. My aim is always to be among the best. Each season is a new challenge and I try to give my best. I want to make people happy,” said the Real Madrid superstar, who struggled with form during the middle of 2015.

RONALDO SEES RED

Cristiano Ronaldo was shown Red Card in the last quarter of the La Liga game between Real Madrid and Athletic Bilbao which was played on Sunday. He got that punishment for hitting an opposition player on the face.

He might face a further ban too as he made a controversial gesture to one of the match officials while coming off the ground.

However, most of the people believe that Ronaldo didn’t deserve to be sent off for that act of his. It was clear that he was provoked by a couple of Bilbao players. Yes, he shouldn’t have hit anybody, but, a yellow card would have been sufficient to punish him for what he did.

Since that red card was shown to Ronaldo during a La Liga game. So, it doesn’t stop him from taking part in the matches of the other competitions. It means that the Portuguese forward would be available for Real Madrid for their next game which is a Copa Del Rey encounter against the local rivals Atletico Madrid.

However, according to the reports coming through, Real Madrid is planning to appeal against that Red Card. If that happens, Ronaldo would be free to play until the hearing takes place.

But, in case the striker is found guilty and that appeal is turned down, he might end up being banned for an excess of 3 matches. That’s because not only did he misbehave with one of his counterparts, he tried to make fun of a match official too.

Ronaldo is currently topping the list of the leading goal scorers in the Spanish top flight this season. His goal’s tally reads 22. It’s two more than the total no. of goals scored by Diego Costa who is at the second position in that list.

ALONSO INJURED

The Spanish defensive midfielder of Real Madrid Xabi Alonso picked up an injury during Real Madrid’s latest La Liga match where they managed to collect all 3 points as they defeated Valencia with a narrow scoreboard of 3-2.

Alonso received an elbow hit from Jeremy Mathieu in the 2nd half which was the primary reason that caused his injury.

‘After undergoing medical tests it has been found that Xabi Alonso has a perforated left eardrum as a result of a blow received in the match against Valencia,’ The Real Madrid medical report released online.

It is still not certain on how long it would take for the full recovery to be completed but the Spanish titans already are on a 2 week Christmas break giving the midfielder enough time to make it back in time for Real Madrid’s competitive matches that start on January 6 against Celta Vigo.

With the arrival of Gareth Bale to Real Madrid, some rumors started to emerge stating that the Argentine Angel Di Maria would leave the club as there would be no space left for him in the plans of Carlo Ancelotti but according to the former player of Benfica, he has no intentions on leaving Real Madrid.

“I knew that a €100 million player was coming and he had to play,” Di Maria told reporters.

“No I have not asked out. My head is at Real Madrid. You journalists put that I was going to Tottenham or another club. You know where these reports come out. I’m happy at Real Madrid. I never asked for a renewal. A player who does not play cannot request a renewal.”

Even with the arrival of Gareth Bale to Real Madrid, Angel Di Maria still remains being a regular starter as he has been featured in almost all of the matches for his club in this season.

BALE STEPS UP

In Cristiano Ronaldo’s absence from Real Madrid’s matches against Galatasaray and Valladolid in the Champions League and La Liga, Gareth Bale stepped it up and proved his worth by turning himself into the star of the squad.

Scoring 3 goals and providing the assist for the club’s match against Valladolid, Bale is demonstrating why Real Madrid offloaded the amount of money they did for the Welshman.

Contrary to their rivals Barcelona who failed to perform with the absence of their star player Lionel Messi, Real Madrid on the other hand has shown to be able to play without the Portuguese superstar C.Ronaldo.

The former Manchester United player is now fully recovered and is expected to play in Real Madrid’s next game which is a King’s Cup match against Olimpic de Xativa on Saturday. The Portuguese player usually sits on the sidelines on encounters such as this one but this is a great opportunity for him to get back to the sensational form he has been going through in this season and continue to rack up more goals.

Ronaldo said: “I am on good form. It’s possible that it is the best start to the season of my career but the past few years have also been very good.”

The star of Portugal and Real Madrid is also building a museum based on him which will be made in the place where he grew up and initiated his football career, Funchal. The opening day is scheduled to be on December 16th as the player wants to use the museum as a place to store all the memorabilia and stuff he collects as he travels around the world.

The museum will include all sorts of artefacts from his days as a Manchester United player.

When asked about what he thinks of the upcoming 2013 Ballon d’Or, Ronaldo said that he has already reserved a space for the trophy.

HATRICK HERO

Cristiano Ronaldo scored a hat-trick playing for Portugal in the World Cup qualifying game against Northern Ireland last month. With those 3 goals, he became the highest goal scorer for his country. He broke the record of the former Benfica forward Eusebio.

Ronaldo has now got 43 goals in 106 international games, while, Eusebio had found the net 41 times in his 64 appearances for Portugal.

Now, a new discussion has started in Portugal about the best player the country has produced so far. Some are saying that it’s Ronaldo, while, some believe its Eusebio.

According to some reports, the comparison with Ronaldo has upset Eusebio. He thinks it’s unfair to compare him with Ronaldo as he scored his 41 goals in fewer matches.

But, Ronaldo thinks that the 71 years old legend shouldn’t get upset by this comparison as records are made just to get broken.

When the Real Madrid striker was asked about Eusebio being unhappy to be compared with him, he said, “I don’t think he should get upset. The records get broken at some point of time.”

“Two players get compared with each other when one breaks the other’s record. It’s not something which one should be sad about. Eusebio’s name will always be at the top of the tree.”

Ronaldo also said that he wants to keep creating history in the game. The 28 years Old Portuguese international said, “My target is to make 100 more appearances for my country.”

Ronaldo is not too far away from becoming the most capped Portuguese player. He just needs to make 22 more international appearances and he will hold that record.

Currently, the player who has played the most no. of matches for Portugal is Luis Figo. He made 127 appearances for his country.

United negotiating deal

Manchester United are reportedly in talks with Real Madrid over the stunning transfer of club legend Cristiano Ronaldo this summer as the club officials want to hand a marquee signing to new manager David Moyes as he readies for his first season in charge of the club as replacement of Sir Alex Ferguson.

According to an English daily which has reported the exclusive news, Real Madrid’s power brokers have gradually opened up to the idea of selling their prized asset after growing frustrated with the player’s reluctance to sign a new deal at the club that will see him renew his contract beyond 2015. Former Real Madrid president has also opened up about the possibility that the club’s pursuit of Gareth Bale is due to the Portuguese winger’s reluctance to pen a new deal as he wants a return to his former club.

The English daily also reported that United and Real have been in discussions about the stunning deal for the last twelve days and they are nearing a breakthrough in negotiations. If the deal does goes through in the end, the signing of Cristiano Ronaldo will provide the perfect start to life as the Manchester United boss for David Moyes and he knows a fan favorite will also give him time to make his mark at the club.

United have been openly pursuing Cesc Fabregas from Barcelona and that has given them the chance to negotiate a deal to bring Ronaldo back without any fuss in the background. Carlo Ancelotti, the new Real Madrid manager has also given up hope of holding on to Cristiano Ronaldo and has asked the club to secure the signing of Javier Hernandez in exchange for Ronaldo, a proposition that would intrigue United officials who are putting together a whopping package for the Portuguese.

ANCELOTTI TAKES OVER

Carlo Ancelotti has been appointed as the manager of Real Madrid. The president of Real Madrid, Florentino Perez, announced his appointment in a press conference yesterday evening.

Ancelotti has replaced Jose Mourinho who left Los Blancos a few weeks back to join the English club Chelsea.

Ancelotti is considered as a brilliant manager by the football pundits. He has had a lot of success in his managerial career so far. He has won the European Cup a couple of times (both with AC Milan in 2003 and 2007). He has also won the domestic leagues in France, Italy and England.
In the last season, Ancelotti was the manager of PSG and he guided them to the Ligue 1 title.
Announcing the appointment of Ancelotti, Perez said, “Carlo is an experienced manager and we are glad to have him here. Hopefully, the club will achieve new levels of success under him.”

Ancelotti himself also looked very happy after his appointment. He said, “I am proud to take charge of the best club in the world. Everything which is needed for success is available here. It will be a great project for me.”

“We remained empty-handed last season, but, I am sure the next season is not going to be like that. We will train hard and win games by playing aggressive football.”

“I have the backing of the chairman and the supporters. So, I think I will have a great time next season.”

When asked about his main target next season, Ancelotti said, “Winning the European Cup will be one of our top priorities next season. The fans have been waiting for it since quite a while and we want to give them a chance to celebrate next season.”

Real Madrid hasn’t won the European Cup after 2002.

RONALDO WANTS MAJOR TITLE

The Real Madrid star Cristiano Ronaldo has once again said that he would want to lift a major title with the Spanish club this season as well. The Portuguese has been consistently linked with a move away from the Santiago Bernabeu in the last few months, but the 28-year-old has stated that he remains committed to the contract as ever.

Ronaldo remains as one of the major attacking Real Madrid despite the presence of players like Mesut Ozil, Karim Benzema, and Gonzalo Higuain. However, he has been linked with Paris St Germain and several clubs including a return to Manchester United after stating that he feels unhappy at Real Madrid.

For now, though, winning trophies at the Santiago Bernabeu remains his major priority according to the player. Even though Madrid will not be able to lift the league title after falling more than 15 points behind leaders Barcelona, they still have the chance to lift the 2 cup competitions on offer – Copa del Rey and the Champions League. Ronaldo was at a ceremony where he was awarded the Africa Di Stefano trophy. This trophy is handed out to the top player of the previous season by the Spanish newspaper Marca. Ronaldo helped Real Madrid win the league title last season.

“Much remains. We are in the cup final and we have taken a major step in the Champions League. The league is difficult but we must fight to the end. Things personally with me are going well but what I want is to win a major trophy with Madrid. It is an honour to receive this award from the hands of Alfredo Di Stefano and I want to thank everyone,” said the 28-year-old. Ronaldo has already scored 27 league goals this season, but he remains way behind Lionel Messi’s tally of 42.

CARVALHO LINKED WITH MILAN

The former Chelsea and FC Porto defender Ricardo Carvalho may be out of his way at the Spanish club Real Madrid after being linked heavily with the Italian club AC Milan in the last few weeks. The 34-year-old defender joined the Spanish club Real Madrid in a £ 5 million deal only a few seasons ago.

This move reunited him with his former manager José Mourinho. However, he has been unable to figure in the first-team plans of the Portuguese manager this time around due to a number of issues. He has suffered a lot of injuries in recent times, while Sergio Ramos has also started playing as a central defender.

This has limited the opportunities in the first-team for Carvalho, who has grown frustrated of being a substitute. He was heavily linked with a season long loan deal to the Premier league club QPR only for the move to fall through at the final stage. Now, he has been linked with the Italian club AC Milan, who was in desperate need of a high profile and experienced defender. The departure of Thiago Silva to the French club Paris St Germain in the summer has compounded the defensive problems for the club, who are struggling to make it into the Champions League next season.

Hence, they will be making a move for the Real Madrid defender due to the fact that he is now available. Selling the 34-year-old will also represent a good move from the Spanish club because he is one of the high earners at the club with wages of around € 5 million per year. The player has not yet commented about the possibility of moving from Real Madrid. Carvalho has won all the major titles in the world including the Champions league with his former club FC Porto.

FERGIE WOULD WELCOME CR BACK

The Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson has said that he would welcome the former winger Cristiano Ronaldo with open arms, but has noted the possibility of the deal ever been a reality. The Portuguese winger left Manchester United for Real Madrid back in the summer of 2009 for a world record transfer fee of £80 million, which still stands today.

However, his career at the Santiago Bernabeu has not been at the same level as it was at Old Trafford. During his time at Manchester United, Cristiano Ronaldo not only won numerous honours like the Champions League medal, but also individual accolades like the FIFA world player of the year award.

However, since moving to Real Madrid, he has lifted just the league title last season. He recently revealed that he is not happy at the club due to professional reasons, which sparked interest amongst various clubs across Europe. Speaking recently after the 1-0 defeat at the hands of Norwich, the Manchester United manager praised the Portuguese international by saying that his presence would have given United the win in the match. He also said that he would be interested in bringing the 27-year-old back to Old Trafford, although doubted the feasibility of the deal due to his transfer value.

“I don’t think it will happen but I would like to think it would. You’re talking about incredible amounts of money now. What would his value be? He’s a fit boy, he’s never injured and he never misses a game. He always wanted to play for Real Madrid. That was his boyhood dream and he’s got that but I’m not saying he’s staying there forever. There’s every chance he might leave, you never know. He’s definitely unbuyable. Who could afford him?” said Sir Alex Ferguson in a recent interview.
