SON CLOSESSCORING GAP ON SALAH

Tottenham Hotspur star Son Heung-Min has closed the gap on Mohamed Salah on the list of the Premier League goalscorers after his two-goal performance against London rivals West Ham United over the weekend. Son Heung-Min was the star of the show as he scored twice either side of the half-time interval to lead Tottenham Hotspur to a 3-1 home win over the Hammers. The win was very important in their quest to finish in the top four places on the Premier League log at the end of the season.

Liverpool attacker Mohamed Salah is the overwhelming favourites to win the Premier League Golden Boot this season after scoring 20 goals. Ahead of the just concluded weekend, Salah had seven goals more than the nearest challenger Diogo Jota who’s his teammate at Liverpool. The Egyptian also had eight more goals than the likes of Harry Kane of Tottenham Hotspur, Sadio Mane of Liverpool and Cristiano Ronaldo of Manchester United. Cristiano Ronaldo, Sadio Mane and Diogo Jota were all not in action at the weekend alongside Mohamed Salah due to the FA Cup quarterfinal commitments of Liverpool. The Premier League game between hosts Liverpool and Manchester United could not go ahead as a result.

With Cristiano Ronaldo and others not in action, Son used the opportunity to make a giant leap in the quest for the Premier League Golden Boot at the end of the season with his two goals against West Ham United in the London Derby clash played on Sunday evening at the new Tottenham Hotspur Stadium. He was nine goals behind Salah before the game, but his brace against the Hammers means that the South Korean player is now seven goals behind the Egyptian international.

As things stand, Son Heung-Min is now level with Diogo Jota on 13 goals as joint second behind Mohamed Salah.
